Wellington artist and filmmaker, Barry Thomas, is holding a special evening workshop on heritage paint making and art production. This will be a great and a not-to-be-missed opportunity to get your hands dirty and have some fun.

arrow HAND CONSTRUCTED POTTERY AND PIT FIRING
Clay work without the use of a wheel. Learn about the tools and techniques of hand built pottery used to make sculpture, pots and other vessels. Then an amazing opportunity to have your creations pit fired at the end of this course. This course is tutored by a wonderfully experienced potter and leading pit firing expert from Waikato Potters Society - Duncan Shearer.

Learn the design elements of the Maori Creative Arts beginning with drawing. Build up your knowledge base, let your imagination take hold and then have a go at designing your own carving. Carve a patu, a taiaha, maybe a picture board or a range of other objects.

Here's something different and exciting! Learn about etching and create a piece of art you can print over and over again. Grounds, solvents, zinc plates, acid bath ... all part of the process. Learn the intricate skills of this fine art and turn out your work on a beautifully restored antique printing press. You'll leave this course with a framed work ready to hang!
