| THAMES MUSIC GROUP - 14th March - Thames The Manukau Concert Band is a not-for-profit community band, based in Manukau City. The band have been consistent recipients of gold medals in competitions and are committed to making and enjoying music at a high level. The ensemble is directed by Kathleen Mulligan. Show tunes, popular marches and light classical music to suit all tastes make up their variety filled programme.

| WHANGAMATA BEACH HOP - 24th - 28th March - Whangamata Rock N Roll Festival. The Whangamata Beach Hop is a celebration of the 50's and 60's which attracts between 40,000 and 80,000 people each year. The highlight of the festival is over 1200 beautifully restored hot rods and classic cars, which take part in a grand parade, and other cruises to beaches up the coastline. There's also Rock n Roll bands from New Zealand and Australia and dancing/competitions in a street festival and various venues throughout the weekend.
A range of other family related activities like a drive in movie, Low Brow art competition, Nostalgia Golf tournament, 60's style longboard competition, and the ever popular Hop Idol and a Nostalgia fair.The result is a colorful extravaganza showcasing rock n roll culture, set against the back drop of one of New Zealands iconic seaside towns, and unparalleled anywhere in New Zealand. Most importantly, the festival is a community event, with all proceeds going towards the various Water Safety organisations which support the seaside town.

| GREAT COROMANDEL ARTS TOUR - May - Coromandel Peninsula The Great Coromandel Arts Tour is a wonderul art adventure. You'll discover hidden studios, tucked away in this Southern Ocean paradise when over 25 of our very best artists will open their studios up, ready for your visit. You will meet the artists in their creative spaces, and even have a chance to create something yourself in one of the great workshops.
The Tour runs for 3 weekends, with artists studios open from 10am to 4pm, Friday through to Sunday on each of the three weekends.
