Arts Coromandel

The Spirit of the Coromandel

The Coromandel region has a reputation for its pioneering arts and crafts people and is home to a large number of talented artists. Many say it’s the unique environment or perhaps it is the exquisite scenery, which provides the inspiration to produce the works of art that flow from the minds and hands of the Hauraki Coromandel artists.

Whatever the influence there is no denying that this place we choose to call home is indeed a very special place. The creative community contributes significantly to the overall cultural experience of this region.

The http.www.artscoromandel.co.nz exhibits our treasured artists in the hope that those who view us on the worldwideweb or who visit the Coromandel & Hauraki will sense the vibrant spirit through our land, our people and our art. Welcome…..art lovers.

ABOUT US

In 2003/4 an informal regional arts network was formed, to enhance the profile of all arts in the Hauraki Coromandel and establish a supportive partnership for the creative sector around the region. The Network identified several initiatives that would strengthen the exposure of the creative sector in the region and provide, support, assistance and tools for creativity to grow. These included the development of the www.artscoromandel.co.nz website, a series of Arts Workshops and a regional publication.

These projects are managed and hosted by the Hauraki Enterprise Agency in association with Creative NZ, the Hauraki Coromandel Development Group, Arts Waikato, Tourism Coromandel, NZ Trade & Enterprise, art clubs, groups and associations, creative communities and individual artists.
